This past year the Anita Deprey Studio of Dance celebrated forty years of dance. Miss Anita’s fortieth recital brought back many of her famous numbers from over the years as well as alumni and friends of the studio. Miss Anita began teaching her first dance lessons out of her parent’s garage in East Hartford, instructing the neighborhood kids how to dance for a nickel a class. This year will mark 41 years of teaching excellence at Miss Anita’s East Hartford studio. 

Students who enroll at the Anita Deprey Studio of Dance are trained in multiple disciplines of dance including, Acro-Gymnastics, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, and Musical Theater. In addition to her dedicated staff, Miss Anita invites guest choreographers from across the country for technique and choreography workshops at the studio.  Miss Anita is a lifetime member of the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts (NADAA), where she served as President of the Greater New England Chapter for 7 years and was on the National Board of Directors for 6 years.  

This year, Miss Anita’s students were invited to perform at the Miss India CT Pageant 2012. Miss Anita along with instructors Miss Ashley and Miss Aleksia choreographed a routine mixing a multitude of styles including ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. The students will perform at the pageant on Sunday, September 9th at the Sherbet Theater in New Haven, CT. 

Miss Anita’s studio has always had an emphasis on family. Many of Miss Anita’s family members have instructed classes and workshops, coached private lessons, and have worked recitals and summer workshops. According to Miss Anita “I love my students; I have a family run studio with an emphasis on family,” where all of her students are considered a part of her dance family. 

The Anita Deprey Studio of Dance is dedicated to instructing multiple forms of dance while fostering creativity and a passion for the craft. “We strive to ensure that our dancers are being trained not only technically, but as great performers,” says Miss Anita. Many students have gone on to continue dance in college and/or pursue careers in performance, dance education, and choreography.

The studio’s 2012 Competition Team attended the Starpower Talent Competition in Springfield, MA and won many of the divisions and took home many high scoring awards. The students also competed at the 2012 NADAA New York Convention and Competition and received numerous “High Gold” awards and a Title award.

When our annual Dance Competition got moved from CT to the NY/NJ area we realized we were only about 45 mins from Hoboken NJ. That's when we decided it would be fun to go before the competition on a field trip to Carlo's Bakery because we are ALL HUGE Cake Boss Fans :) that and we wanted to try some of the Bakery's tasty treats.

We thought it would be awesome to choreograph a routine just for Buddy to get his attention, in the hopes of being able to meet him when we visit.

So... Here's to hoping!

UPDATE: We went and got tasty treats after standing in line for hours... In the end Buddy & his team ignored us.
